What Is Inside Of You

Who are you?

This is probably the most important question you will ever be asked.  The truth is not many people really know who they are.  It is a difficult question indeed!  To make it even more complicated we are ever changing.  Therefore, who you are at this moment will change before you read the next sentence…

If I am ever changing, the why is it important to know who I am?

The reason it is important to know who you are is because who you are now will determine who you will be in the future.  Not only that but the choices you make right now (which of course are determined by who you are) will  determine where you will be, what you will do, and what you will have in the future.

Who You Are Not…

I love the part in the movie The Secret when Bob Proctor tells the story about being asked who he is and he answers I’m “Bob Proctor” and he is told “You are not your name.”  Bob gestures to his body and says “This is me.”  and is told “You are not your body.”  Bob goes on to say we don’t say “I am hand” or “I am foot.” These are just parts of us.

So, Then - Who Are You?

Who you are is a spiritual being.  You come from an infinite source of energy, wisdom, and all that is good.  A source which can and will provide you with everything you need and want if you choose to tap into it.  (If you would like more information on how to tap into this source I suggest watching The Secret, and The Power of Intention.)

This source is called by many names God, The Universe, The Infinite Intelligence…..  It doesn’t matter what you call it.  Many people believe in the source in many different forms and all who choose to tap into it reap the benefits just the same.  (I personally believe that the source is God but, I also respect the fact that everyone has to make there own mind up about what this source really is.)

Okay, How do we know exactly who we are in the moment?  We know by what is inside of us and what comes out of us!  My favorite metaphor for this comes from Wayne Dyers in his speech “The Power of Intention”.

He says ”If you squeeze an orange you get out of it orange juice.  Why?  It’s an orange.  That’s what’s inside.  And, when you squeeze you, someone puts pressure on you, says something that you don’t like and out of you comes anger. And hatred. And bitterness. And tension. And fear. And anxiety. And depression. And worry. And stress.

That’s not because of who did the squeezing.  It’s not because of the instrument they used or the timing, it has nothing to do with that.  It has to do with what’s inside.”

We can only exude what is inside of us.  We can only emit from ourselves what is already in us!

We have the power to choose and to change who we are at any given moment!

The wonderful thing about knowing who you are is - It gives us the power to choose who we are and, if we wish it gives us the power to change.  We never really stay exactly as we are however, if we like certain qualities about who we are at any moment we can keep those qualities or improve upon them.  If we don’t like what we are seeing then we can choose to change.  The power is in your hands!

As Napoleon Hill once said “You can have, do, or be anything!”  It’s all up to you.
