Personal Development Demands Success

Failure Equals Learning

What does the word “failure” mean to you?  I have found that there is a major semantical difference between definitions of this word.  That difference can make a huge impact on how you live your life.

The first view is an unfortunate idea at best.  This view would define failure as “an end at which you have not obtained your objective”.  I used to be one of the people who actually looked at failure that way.  It is a sad place to be!

Can you imagine someone who has failed yelling “Yes, I have failed! Alright!!!”  If you buy into the first definition of failure, you would probably think this person had gone mad.

There is a much more empowering view of this word.  This view defines failure as “a result that provides you with experience and makes you better!”  See the difference?  With this second view of the word you have actually improved yourself by failing.  You are better off than before because now you know more than you did before!!!

I love this quote by Tony Robbins “There is no such thing as failure, you always succeed at producing a result!”  This is a much more empowering approach.  Don’t you think?

I am grateful that I fail at all kinds of things all the time!

    Hi Priscilla

I believe there is quote that goes something like failure is simply success postponed.

I agree with you and Tony that there is no such thing as failure and that we actually succeed at producing a result. The result may not completely be what we expected but it is definitely a learning experience that that we can pick up from, improve upon and carry on our continual journey towards obtaining the result that we ultimately desire.
