Easily Post a List With Active Links

The Personal Development List is a long list.  If you were to add each link individually it could take you all day.

I have recieved many e-mails asking me how to do this quickly and easily, and today I recieved an e-mail from Jeanie Marshall that gave me a great idea for a new post.

Jeanie says “Here’s a tip for a quick way to make all these links live when you post
this list to your own blog.  In your browser, go to the “source page” for
this site, copy the HTML, and then paste the HTML for the list into the
HTML area for your post.  Edit and add your own comments.”

In terms those of you out there like me, who are learning to be techies. If your computer runs on Microsoft software:

1-  Go to the page containing the list you want to copy.

2-  Right click the select view source (this will bring up the HTML code that is behind the post).

3-  Locate and highlight just the list portion.

4-  Paste it into your own post

5-  Edit and add your own comments

6-  Publish

Thank you Jeanie for the suggestion!

Yes I find that useful for my links but haven’t figured how to do that in the comment section so always land up showing the URL.

Priscilla, haven’t forgotten about the meme, I always combine meme’s with my regular posting and have nearly finished getting everything together :)

    Priscilla,

I’m hosting a carnival in a couple weeks. Mind if I link to this post for those who want to share the list?

    David

Jackie- Humm, I’ve never tried it in the comment section. I’ll have to test it out.

David- Feel free to link back to any post here! It is you that would be doing me the favor. I love “link love”.

  4. Fiar:

That’s the sort of thing that I forget that people don’t know how to do. That makes me wonder what else I know that I take for granted.

  5. priscilla:

It is easy to forget that the things we can do easily may not be so easy to others. It’s kind of fun to look back and see how far we’ve come.

  6. Holly:

Will this work to keep it updated when Priscilla updates it? I’m just learning to do some of the more technical aspects of blogging and would love to share this list, as well as do “link love”.

    Smiles,
    Holly

  7. priscilla:

Holly- Unfortunately, if you want to update the list you have to do it manually. I wish I had a way to make it update on it’s own but, I’m not that techinically inclined, yet!

  8. Holly:

Thanks for answering - I’m going to get this list on my blog first thing in the morning. Not a problem to come back and check for new updates, it’s such a wonderful project it’s worth the effort.

    Smiles,
    Holly

  9. Erin:

Thanks Priscilla and Jeanie for the “how to”! I have been fretting about where I was going to find the time to enter all of the links. Now, (if everything goes right) presto!

  10. priscilla:

    Thank you Erin!

  11. Jean Browman--Cheerful Monk:

I’ve been doing that already. What would really help me is if you put the updated list on a page by itself, with no comments. It would be much easier to copy the list.

Anyway, what a great job you’re doing. :)

  12. Hueina Su:

Hi Priscilla and Jeanie, thank you so much for offering these instructions. I was worrying how I was ever going to find time to put the entire list on my blog - that’s why I haven’t even tried. Now I know how to, if everything goes well, the list will be up on my blog today. Thank you again!

    Warmly,

Hueina Su- That’s great, thank you.. :)
