Begin Where You Are

Filed under: Mental — July 25, 2007 @ 12:39 pm

Have you ever said;

-I’d like to own my own business but, I just don’t have the money.

-I’d like to write a book but, I just don’t have the time.

-I’d like to _________ but, _________……

Let me tell you a secret.  You never will unless you decide to.  These excuses do nothing other than, hold you back.

Everyone has to start somewhere.  That somewhere is right where you are.  The perfect circumstances will not exist until you create them.

There is not (and has never been) a successful person who did not start out unsuccessfully.  Now, I’ve heard  argument that some people are born rich, or into royalty.  The truth is your right, a few are born with a slight advantage.  Yet, they have challenges of there own.  Riches and Royalty may be advantageous but, in themselves are not success.  There have been many unsuccessful kings throughout history.

We all must begin where we are.  Why?  Because, we have no choice!!!  Stop using the excuses that hold you back and start living your dreams.

Let’s take the first excuse and break it down.  “I’d like to own my own business but, I just don’t have the money.”  First decide what kind of business you want.  How much is it really going to cost you to start it?  Then set a goal to come up with the money.

The key is to decide what you want and take immediate action.  You may not be where you would like to be yet.  The only way you are going to get there is to start moving forward.  If you take action every day, you will move yourself from where you are to where you want to be.

At first the action may be to read a book on the business you want or how to write a business plan.  You may do some research online about how to get a business loan.  Any action will bring you closer to your goal.

    “I’d like to… but…” Famous last words indeed! “The perfect circumstances will not exist until you create them.” There’s never *quite* enough time or money to do anything, so yes, there comes a point when you simply have to go out and do it. As that sports shoe maker says: “just do it”. Great post :)

    Thank you for the comment John. You are correct, sometimes you have to “Just do it”.
