Just Who I Am

“I can’t help it.  This is just who I am.”

How many times have you heard this?  Have you said it?

Truth be known these words are nothing more than a cop out.  You can control what you do.  It doesn’t matter how you were raised.  No matter what you were taught. Regardless of how you feel, what you’ve been through, or what other people say.  You are in control.  You are responsible.

How we behave is a matter of choice.  We can choose to change.  We can take control.  Do you want to be successful?  Then take responsibility for your own life.  No one else can do the work for you.

Steven Covey says “There is a gap between stimulus and response.”  It is during this gab that we decide what we are going to do.  We are not forced to respond the same way we always have.  The power to change is in your hands.

What do you want in life?  Is the path you are taking going to get you there?  If not — What do you plan to do about it?  We all have an inner compass guiding us.  What does yours say?

We all have independent will, you are not forced to do what others expect you to.  What is socially favored at this time may not be what is right for you.  Use your imagination.  Use your creative ability.  Get What you want out of life.

Super nice Priscilla! As I see it, it’s a matter of getting into a new habit: taking control of oneself.
    Thank you!

Thank you Patricia. I agree with you that it is getting into a new habit.
